Job Summary:

If you’re an expert at whipping up exciting food ideas and fancy collaborating with Mama Bross, we want to hear from you! Your life here will be fast-paced, even demanding, but the great co-workers and supportive atmosphere are hard to beat. As Bross Food Manager, you’ll function as head chef, kitchen supervisor, and our foodie go to for our Deli and Street food experience. Inventory, hiring, training and cooking methods are all areas under your purview. We’re keeping the hours for this position flexible, so let us know what works best for you. We do ask for a general five-days-a-week, eight-hours-per-day schedule.You are responsible for all kitchen functions including food purchasing, preparation and maintenance of quality standards, sanitation and cleanliness, training of employees in methods of cooking, preparation, portion and cost control.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage all kitchen day-to-day operations within budgeted guidelines and to the highest standards.
  • Collaborate with the business owner on food menus and improvements to support and bring to life the Bross food experience.
  • Be a foodie, love to test and trial, and want to be part of our growing brand.
  • Train Bross employees on how to prep and build our food, and hold ongoing evaluations of our teams prep quality and Bross standard adherence.
  • Lead the kitchen team by attracting, recruiting, training and appraising talented employees.
  • Manage our Kitchen Prep Manager, Kitchen supervisors and the prep team.
  • Establish targets, KPI’s, schedules, policies and procedures.
  • Provide a two way communication and nurture an ownership environment with emphasis in motivation and teamwork.
  • Monitor inventory and food levels, ordering replacement items when necessary.
  • Liaise with suppliers to solve supply issues and re-negotiate prices.
  • Regularly scope for savings to be made on alternative ingredients.
  • Be flexible to step into the kitchen to support, train and lead when required.
  • Be a key player in the business as it moves to new kitchen premises.
  • Be the wider area Food Support Manager and a key player in the setting up of our new Deli in the St James centre.

A bit about you...

You will need to have the passion and enthusiasm to work in a fast moving environment and an ever growing brand. A love for bagels is also helpful! The other skills we are looking for are:

Experience required:

  • Proven food and beverage management experience. Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS, and google suite.
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Mastery in delegating multiple tasks.
  • Communication and leadership skills.
  • Up to date with food trends and best practices.
  • Ability to manage a team.

  • Demonstrated experience at building community relationships.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
