FUSE is a free support service for both employers and job seekers, funded by St James Quarter. Our role is to connect people with meaningful retail and hospitality opportunities across Edinburgh, while helping businesses build strong, stable teams.
For job seekers, we offer tailored, one-to-one support to help you take the next step in your career. Whether you’re looking for your first job, returning to work, or ready for something new, we’ll help you build confidence, write your CV, practise interviews, access accredited training, and apply for roles with some of the city’s most recognisable brands.
For employers, we provide direct access to a Talent Bank of pre-vetted, career-ready applicants. Whether you’re opening a new store, struggling with staff retention, or building a management team, we’ll support recruitment, onboarding, and training to strengthen your workforce and meet your brand’s needs.
We are here to reduce recruitment gaps, increase sustainment, and build long-term employment pathways. By working closely with both people and businesses, FUSE ensures opportunity flows where it’s needed most.
FUSE is a city-wide employability project that launched in 2021 alongside the opening of St James Quarter, one of Edinburgh’s largest retail and hospitality destinations. We were established to make sure that the thousands of new jobs created would be accessible, inclusive and sustainable for both individuals and businesses.
Funded by St James Quarter, FUSE exists to strengthen Edinburgh’s retail and hospitality workforce. We connect people to training, qualifications and jobs, while supporting employers with recruitment, onboarding and staff development.
We are not a recruitment agency. We’re a strategic support service, based onsite at St James Quarter, helping businesses hire and retain the right people, and helping job seekers find meaningful work and lasting careers.

Our Talent Bank is a proactive tool designed to reduce staff turnover and accelerate hiring by matching employers with career-ready, locally-supported applicants.
The Talent Bank benefits both Employers and Job Seekers. For Employers the benefits are pre-vetted candidates, training pathways, visibility across SJQ events and channels. For Job Seekers the Talent Bank ensures their skills and experience are getting the maximum exposure across all the brands in the St James Quarter.
