FUSE Edinburgh is the official training and recruitment partner of St James Quarter and wider Business Development District. FUSE was created to connect people in Edinburgh with careers in retail and hospitality, and to help employers find the right people to fill them.
When St James Quarter was built, it brought with it around 3,000 new jobs for the city. FUSE was conceived in 2019 to meet that need, officially opening alongside St James Quarter in 2022, and has been growing Edinburgh's retail and hospitality workforce ever since.
Funded by St James Quarter and embedded in the city's wider employability network, FUSE works with job seekers, employers, and community partners to turn training into employment and vacancies into long-term careers.
We work to make opportunities accessible to everyone. Through our place in Edinburgh’s wider employability network, we connect with multiple community partners so people can apply for roles in St James Quarter without the usual barriers.
As part of the Joined Up for Business network, we act as a one-stop shop for retail and hospitality recruitment, making it easier for people to access opportunities and for employers to find the right candidates. Our support ensures both sides have what they need to succeed.
Through this network, we run sector-based workshops that give people an inside look at retail and hospitality, along with the skills, knowledge and practical experience to perform well at interviews. These sessions are free, accessible, and designed with job seeker needs in mind, giving job seekers the best possible chance to step into work.
